Washington MAST Permit Class 12 and Class 13 Approved Training

To get your Washignton MAST Class 12 or Class 13 permit, you need to complete an approved training course. The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB), however, does not provide the required training. But don’t worry. After completing our approved training, you can serve alcohol responsibly and abide by the state’s regulations. It’s also important to note that the MAST permit expires every five years, and you’ll need to renew your permit before it expires to continue working in the alcohol hospitality service industry in Washington. 4 Things You Shouldn’t Mix with Alcohol

Washington MAST Class 12 or Class 13 Permit

Washington MAST (Mandatory Alcohol Server Training) Class 12 and Class 13 permits are permits that allow individuals to serve alcohol in restaurants or bars. The Class 13 permit is for servers who are 18 years old or older and work in establishments where 50% or more of the gross income comes from the sale of food. The Class 12 permit is for servers who are 21 years old or older and work in establishments where less than 50% of the gross income comes from the sale of food. Both permits require completion of a MAST training course and passing an exam. If you work without obtaining a valid mast permit, you could be fined up to: $1000.

Why Are Servers Required To Take An Alcohol Education Class?

Washington State regulation requires that the MAST course take 3 hours, and the alcohol server permit training course covers a range of topics, including state laws and regulations, how to identify and prevent alcohol-related incidents, and strategies for managing difficult customers. The training is available online, making it accessible to individuals who wish to obtain a MAST permit at their own pace and convenience. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion, which they can use to until they receive the official permit in the mail. The program is required for those working in the Washington hospitality industry.

At the end of each class, students take a multiple-choice test. Students need a score of 80% to pass. More than 99% of students pass the test the first time they complete it. Students who fail may retake the test as many times until they pass the test. The test is designed to reinforce the learning process. It is not used to exclude students from the alcohol industry.
